Golf Tournament – Monday, October 4, 2010
The Health Center will hold its 10th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, October 4 at Pocasset Golf Club. Registration begins at 10 AM for the 11:30 AM shotgun start. All proceeds of the Tournament will benefit the programs and services of the Health Center. The $225 per person fee ( $900 per foursome) includes box lunch, cocktail reception and dinner. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Call the Development Office at 508- 477-5990 for more information.

Capoeira Classes –
Check out the new class of Brazilian Martial Arts and Dance led by instructor Claudio. The class is held Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5 to 7 PM at the Gus Canty Community Center in Falmouth, and is open to the public. It’s fun, it’s challenging and includes body movements and musical instrument practice. The cost is $0 to $10 per class. The first class is free. For information, call 508 246-9675.

Education

Learn more about MassHealth; Commonwealth Care, a new program that provides health insurance to eligible Massachusetts residents; and other health insurance programs. We can help you determine if you’re eligible and complete the application process. Stop in or call the Health Center in Mashpee at 508-477-7090 for an appointment Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. In Falmouth, stop in on Mondays, from 9 AM to 2 PM (Portuguese) and Thursdays, from 1 to 4 PM.

Insurance Enrollment Assistance at Falmouth Service Center, 611 Gifford Street, Falmouth

Community Health Center of Cape Cod staff are present at the Falmouth Service Center to provide insurance enrollment assistance for veterans and those who speak Portuguese. They will review eligibility guidelines and help complete applications for insurance benefits, as well as provide assistance with employment, housing or other issues. No appointment is necessary.

Assistance for veterans is available with enrollment specialist Joan Dowd on Thursdays, from 10 AM to Noon. Assistance for Portuguese-speaking individuals is available with community health worker Pedro Fortes on Mondays, from 3 to 5 PM.

Together with the Falmouth Public Schools, the Health Center is pleased to offer HealthyFalmouth.org, an innovative and user-friendly website designed to promote the health and well-being of area students, families and the community.

HealthyFalmouth.org has a focus on healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. It provides information on the Schools’ wellness programs and activities and the services of the Health Center. There is fitness and nutrition information aimed at teens and school-aged children, as well as general health information and access to thousands of articles about specific health conditions, medications, procedures, and decision-making tools. It contains a guide to safe and credible health information on the Internet and to specific health resources in the Falmouth community. www.HealthyFalmouth.org is a work in progress and we welcome input from the community.
